Scaling and Root Planing

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS

No smoking for at least 48 hours after your procedure.

Avoid crunchy, spicy, acidic, very hot/cold foods and liquids for 48 hours after your procedure.

Avoid hot liquids & be careful not to bite your lip cheek, or tongue while still numb. Soreness, swelling, or bruising around injection site may occur.

Gums can be sore or tender. Warm and gentle salt water swishes (up to 3x a day) can help accelerate healing and soothe them.

It is not uncommon to experience sensitivity following SRP. However, this should gradually get better over time. If not, please call us to schedule a follow up visit.

If you experience discomfort, you may take OTC medication such as Ibuprofen and/or Tylenol for pain management.

You may continue with your regular brushing and flossing routine, but please exercise extra caution and be gentle during your home care practices. It is important to maintain your gum health. We highly recommend an electric toothbrush and Waterpik flosser.
