Smile Essentials Virtual cosmetic Consultation Photo Instructions

Prepare for Your Virtual Cosmetic Consultation

At Smile Essentials, your virtual consultation is a chance to share what you would like to change about your smile, explore possible treatment options, and understand your next steps before coming to the office.

Sending your photos and any relevant dental records ahead of time helps us make the conversation more useful and specific to you.

What to Expect

We will review your smile goals, photos, and any available dental records. Together, we can discuss:

  • What you would like to improve, such as tooth color, shape, spacing, chips, or older dental work.
  • Treatment options that may fit your goals.
  • How your existing dental work, bite, and oral health may affect those options.
  • Possible timing, preliminary cost considerations, and the next steps in your evaluation.

Your virtual consultation provides an initial assessment. An in-person examination and any necessary diagnostic records are needed before we confirm your suitability for treatment and finalize your plan.

How to Prepare

Share your smile goals

Tell us what you like about your smile and what you would like to change. You can include an older photo of yourself or examples of smiles you like. Let us know about any upcoming events, timing preferences, or budget considerations.

Send your smile photos

Follow our photo instructions and submit your photos before your consultation using the directions provided by our team. Clear photos help us see the details you want to discuss.

Tell us about your dental history

Complete any requested forms and let us know about previous bonding, veneers, crowns, implants, root canals, or orthodontic treatment. Include any sensitivity, pain, grinding, or concerns about existing dental work, along with relevant medical information and medications.

Arrange for existing X-rays when relevant

Not everyone needs X-rays for an initial cosmetic discussion. Existing images can be especially helpful if you:

  • Have dental implants or want to discuss a missing tooth.
  • Have veneers or crowns on your front teeth.
  • Have older or larger fillings or bonding on your front teeth.
  • Have had a root canal, injury, or other concern involving a tooth you would like to improve.

X-rays provide information about teeth, roots, and supporting bone that photos alone cannot show. They can help us evaluate areas around existing dental work, although an examination may still be needed to answer specific questions.

How to have your X-rays sent

Contact our team for the preferred secure records transfer instructions. Then ask your current dental office to send digital copies of relevant existing X-rays, including images of your front teeth or any implant or missing-tooth areas, with the dates they were taken. Your office may ask you to complete a records release.

Request your records early so they can arrive before your consultation. If you already have a 3D scan or implant records, let us know so we can advise what would be useful.

You can use this message when contacting your dental office:

“I have a cosmetic consultation scheduled with Smile Essentials. Please send digital copies of my existing X-rays relevant to my front teeth and any implant or missing-tooth areas, including the dates taken. Please contact Smile Essentials for records transfer instructions and let me know if you need a signed release.”

Please check with us before arranging new X-rays solely for your consultation. We will review what is available and let you know whether additional evaluation or imaging is needed.

Get ready for your appointment

Follow the appointment instructions from our team. If your consultation includes a video call, choose a quiet, well-lit space, check your camera and microphone, and have your questions ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I do not have recent X-rays?

Let us know. We can help determine whether your photos and available records are enough for an initial discussion or whether an in-person visit would be a better starting point.

Can we discuss replacing existing veneers, crowns, or bonding?

Yes. Tell us what concerns you, such as color, shape, wear, or changes over time. Photos and relevant X-rays help guide the discussion; an in-person assessment helps determine whether repair, replacement, or another approach is appropriate.

Do I need to know which treatment I want?

No. Start with the changes you would like to see. We will help you understand which options may be worth considering.

Will I receive an exact treatment quote?

When enough information is available, we can discuss a preliminary estimate or range. Final recommendations and fees depend on your examination, any necessary records, and the treatment you choose.

What if my records have not arrived?

Contact our team before your appointment. We can let you know whether to proceed with the initial discussion or adjust the appointment so we have the information needed to address your concerns.

Will I still need to visit the office?

Yes, before beginning treatment. We will explain what needs to be evaluated in person and help you understand the next steps.
